Ange Postecoglou will lead Tottenham Hotspur for the first time in a European competition as the north London club face Qarabag FK in their UEFA Europa League opener on Thursday.
Spurs were forced to sit out of European action for the first time since 2009/10 in the previous campaign – Postecoglou’s first as manager of the club – after a poor 2022/23 season saw them land eighth in the Premier League table.
But Spurs are back in Europe, and fresh off the elation of a dominant win over Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday – overturning Bryan Mbuemo’s goal in the first minute in a strong response to their 1-0 setback against rivals Arsenal in the previous week.
